Bath Fans
Bathroom Exhaust Fans
Bathroom exhaust fan installation that defeats moisture for good
Vent Route
Bath Fans Ducted Fully Outside
Half the bathroom fans in older homes blow straight into the attic. Warm, wet air hits cold sheathing and condenses there. We run rigid duct to a wall cap or a roof cap outside the house instead.
- Rigid duct run to the outside
- Wall caps and roof caps fitted
- Duct insulated through cold space
- Backdraft damper keeps cold air out
- Old ducts pulled out of attics

Bath Fan
A Quieter Bath Fan
- Sone rating chosen for quiet
- Airflow matched to room size
- Fan and light combined
- Humidity sensor or timer switch
- Existing hole reused where possible

I had a great experience with Tom and his partner. They were professional, timely, responsive, and helped quickly switch out some circuit breakers that continued to trip. They also added in surge protection to mitigate power glitches that are common to my area.

We had an excellent experience with Tom’s technician who installed 2 brand new ceiling fans in our house as well as a new lighting fixture in our kitchen. He was fast yet thorough and made sure we were completely satisfied with the work before leaving, offering to handle anything else we needed.

Very Good Electrician – I had Schumann Electric out now I think for the 4th time in the past couple years. I will not use anyone else. This time it was to wire up our new hot tub. They are always on time and the job was completed as agreed.

Schumann Electric is by far the best electrician I ever had. He comes when he says & updates when in route. Tom can handle any situation. He has moved switches anywhere i asked. Many outlets been updated. Added ceiling light where I had none. Fixed outside boxes & figured out why one didn't work. Noticed my whole house surge protector wasn't working. Put one in. He has everything that he needs with him always. Steve, his worker works just as hard as Tom does. He knows exactly what he is doing. They even clean up!Posted on Google![]()

First off I wanna start off by saying this is my first Google review. But this electrician deserves a five star Google review for how professional quality work and being on time.He installed a hot tub for me it was a lot work it was about a 100 foot run from the breaker to Hot tub. He explained everything that had to be done and when he started he showed me the work he’s done during the steps Of insulation to me that shows he was not hiding any mistakes or coverups. Very professional in my opinion I would use this electrician for anything else and for any of my friends or family I would definitely recommend him . For me the best and honest professional electrician out truly a great persons ShawnPosted on Google![]()

I can’t recommend Schumann Electric highly enough. After moving into our new home, Tom and Steve helped us update and improve some outdated electrical work, making sure everything was safe, reliable, and up to modern standards. They were professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything along the way. Not to mention the communication with them on scheduling is so much better than any other company I have worked with. No back and forth between multiple parties. They get you scheduled and get the job done right. They also did an outdoor lighting project for us, and the results have been absolutely incredible. The lighting has completely transformed the look of our home — it truly makes our house stand out as one of the most beautiful on the street. Their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and design sense exceeded our expectations. Schumann is the type of electrician you hope to find: trustworthy, skilled, responsive, and genuinely proud of their work. We are extremely happy with everything they have done for us and will definitely be calling them for any future electrical needs.+1
Where Bathroom Exhaust Air Has to End Up
Through a wall cap or a roof cap, into open air, never the attic.
When a Bathroom Fan Is Too Small to Cope
Mirrors wet ten minutes after a shower, or paint peeling above the door, means the airflow never once matched the room.
Who Suffers Without a Bath Fan- Mold, Damp and Peeling Wall Paint
Small windowless baths take the worst of it. Family showers running twice each morning are no better. Damp with nowhere to go will always find the plaster.
What Stops Happening Once the Bath Fan Runs
- No damp patch on the ceiling now
- Paint that stays put on the wall
- A fan you can hardly hear at all
Bathroom Fogging Up Daily?
One morning, and the damp problem is gone.

About Schumann Electric
Protecting Homes One Bathroom at a Time
The cheapest mold remediation is the exhaust fan that prevents mold entirely.
Schumann Electric has installed and corrected bathroom ventilation throughout Chester County for more than 25 years, and we have seen what failed fans cost homeowners in repainting, regrouting, and remediation. That is why our installations include correct CFM sizing, sealed ducting that terminates outdoors, and quiet units families actually use. Owner-led service, written pricing, and full Pennsylvania licensing come with every bathroom we improve.
Bath Queries
Frequently Asked Questions
Noise, sizing, ducts, and why the attic is never a real answer.
Why does my bathroom fan not clear the steam?
Three usual causes. The fan is undersized for the room, the duct is flexible and crushed somewhere in the joists, or it vents into the attic instead of outside. We check all three of those before we quote for a single new part.
Can a bathroom exhaust fan vent into the attic?
It cannot, and code has said so for years. Dumping warm, wet air into a cold roof space rots sheathing and soaks insulation. Every duct we fit ends at a cap on a wall or a roof, in open air outside the house.
How much noise does a new bathroom fan make?
Far less than the one you have. Noise is rated in sones, and anything at one sone or below reads as a soft hush in the room. The old basic units sit near four sones, which is the rattle everyone remembers from childhood.
Are humidity sensors on a bath fan worth it?
In a family bathroom, yes. The fan starts itself when the humidity climbs and runs on after everyone has left, which is exactly when the room needs it. A simple timer switch does much the same job for a whole lot less money.
Does fitting a bath fan mean cutting the ceiling?
Usually the old opening serves. Housings vary by maker, so a new unit sometimes needs the hole enlarged by an inch or two. We square it neatly, and the fan trim covers the whole cut once the new unit goes back up there.
Should a bath fan run on its own switch?
We prefer it. Tied to the light, the fan stops the moment someone flicks the switch on the way out, long before the room is dry. A separate switch with a timer keeps clearing the steam long after you have gone back downstairs.
