I had a great experience with Tom and his partner. They were professional, timely, responsive, and helped quickly switch out some circuit breakers that continued to trip. They also added in surge protection to mitigate power glitches that are common to my area.

We had an excellent experience with Tom’s technician who installed 2 brand new ceiling fans in our house as well as a new lighting fixture in our kitchen. He was fast yet thorough and made sure we were completely satisfied with the work before leaving, offering to handle anything else we needed.

Very Good Electrician – I had Schumann Electric out now I think for the 4th time in the past couple years. I will not use anyone else. This time it was to wire up our new hot tub. They are always on time and the job was completed as agreed.

Schumann Electric is by far the best electrician I ever had. He comes when he says & updates when in route. Tom can handle any situation. He has moved switches anywhere i asked. Many outlets been updated. Added ceiling light where I had none. Fixed outside boxes & figured out why one didn't work. Noticed my whole house surge protector wasn't working. Put one in. He has everything that he needs with him always. Steve, his worker works just as hard as Tom does. He knows exactly what he is doing. They even clean up!Posted on Google![]()

First off I wanna start off by saying this is my first Google review. But this electrician deserves a five star Google review for how professional quality work and being on time.He installed a hot tub for me it was a lot work it was about a 100 foot run from the breaker to Hot tub. He explained everything that had to be done and when he started he showed me the work he’s done during the steps Of insulation to me that shows he was not hiding any mistakes or coverups. Very professional in my opinion I would use this electrician for anything else and for any of my friends or family I would definitely recommend him . For me the best and honest professional electrician out truly a great persons ShawnPosted on Google![]()

I can’t recommend Schumann Electric highly enough. After moving into our new home, Tom and Steve helped us update and improve some outdated electrical work, making sure everything was safe, reliable, and up to modern standards. They were professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything along the way. Not to mention the communication with them on scheduling is so much better than any other company I have worked with. No back and forth between multiple parties. They get you scheduled and get the job done right. They also did an outdoor lighting project for us, and the results have been absolutely incredible. The lighting has completely transformed the look of our home — it truly makes our house stand out as one of the most beautiful on the street. Their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and design sense exceeded our expectations. Schumann is the type of electrician you hope to find: trustworthy, skilled, responsive, and genuinely proud of their work. We are extremely happy with everything they have done for us and will definitely be calling them for any future electrical needs.+1
Where We Fit a 200 Amp Main Panel
The same spot the old one held, unless clearance or the code says otherwise.
When a Repair Is Better Than a New Panel
A sound enclosure with one failed part is a repair. A cooked bus or a full box is a replacement job.
Who Orders a 200 Amp Panel- Any Home Whose Main Breaker Trips
Owners whose main breaker trips under a summer load. Sellers handed an inspection report. Anyone told a panel is full when the fault sits at one lug.
What Comes With a 200 Amp Panel Replacement
- A main panel that runs cool now
- The old panel gone by that night
- A door label you can read at last
Main Breaker Letting Go?
We repair it, or we replace it properly.

About Schumann Electric

Schumann Electric has opened, repaired, and replaced electrical panels across Chester County for more than 25 years, from screw-in fuse boxes in stone farmhouses to modern load centers in new construction. The owner personally handles panel diagnostics because judgment matters most where the stakes are highest. Every repair is torqued to specification, tested under load, and documented, with written pricing and full Pennsylvania licensing behind it.
Got Questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
Repair or replace, what it costs, and how long the work takes.
Can a 200 amp main panel be repaired instead?
Frequently. A failed main breaker, a burned lug, a cracked deadfront or one bad branch breaker all repair well on a sound enclosure. What cannot be repaired is a corroded bus, or a box with no usable space left inside it any more.
How much cheaper is repair than a new panel?
A main breaker or a lug repair is a fraction of a replacement, often a single morning of work. We price both side by side on the same sheet, so the choice is yours, and we still say which one we would pick.
Is 200 amps now the standard main panel size?
For a single family house, yes. Almost every main panel replacement we fit in Downingtown, PA now lands at 200 amps, because the price gap against a smaller panel is small, and the room it buys stays useful for decades after we leave.
Will my existing breakers fit into the new panel?
Rarely, and we quote them in. Breakers are matched to a maker and a bus design, so a replacement panel normally arrives with a full set of new ones. Nothing gets reused unless it is listed for that exact panel by its maker.
Does a repaired main panel still last for years?
If the enclosure and bus are sound, yes. A new main breaker in a healthy panel runs as long as one in a new box. We only repair a panel where we would be happy to leave our own family under it too.
Do you replace the meter socket and mast too?
Only when they need it. A sound socket and mast stay where they are, which keeps the job inside one day. Where the socket is rusted or undersized for the new panel, we renew it and coordinate the utility cut and reconnect ourselves.
