Dimmer Work
Dimmer Switch Wiring
Dimmers that hold. Outlets where you want.
Dimmer Match
Dimmers Matched to Your Bulbs
Most dimmer trouble starts at the pairing. An old rotary dimmer and a modern LED driver argue, and you see it as flicker or a hum. We match the dimmer to the load already in the room.
- Dimmers rated for the LED driver
- Flicker and hum cured at source
- Low-end trim set per room
- Smart switches wired to the network
- Neutral wire pulled where dimmers need

New Outlet
Outlets Added to Order
- New outlets on existing runs
- Dedicated circuits where load needs
- Countertops worktops
- Backstabbed wires moved to screws
- Loose boxes anchored, plates replaced

I had a great experience with Tom and his partner. They were professional, timely, responsive, and helped quickly switch out some circuit breakers that continued to trip. They also added in surge protection to mitigate power glitches that are common to my area.

We had an excellent experience with Tom’s technician who installed 2 brand new ceiling fans in our house as well as a new lighting fixture in our kitchen. He was fast yet thorough and made sure we were completely satisfied with the work before leaving, offering to handle anything else we needed.

Very Good Electrician – I had Schumann Electric out now I think for the 4th time in the past couple years. I will not use anyone else. This time it was to wire up our new hot tub. They are always on time and the job was completed as agreed.

Schumann Electric is by far the best electrician I ever had. He comes when he says & updates when in route. Tom can handle any situation. He has moved switches anywhere i asked. Many outlets been updated. Added ceiling light where I had none. Fixed outside boxes & figured out why one didn't work. Noticed my whole house surge protector wasn't working. Put one in. He has everything that he needs with him always. Steve, his worker works just as hard as Tom does. He knows exactly what he is doing. They even clean up!Posted on Google![]()

First off I wanna start off by saying this is my first Google review. But this electrician deserves a five star Google review for how professional quality work and being on time.He installed a hot tub for me it was a lot work it was about a 100 foot run from the breaker to Hot tub. He explained everything that had to be done and when he started he showed me the work he’s done during the steps Of insulation to me that shows he was not hiding any mistakes or coverups. Very professional in my opinion I would use this electrician for anything else and for any of my friends or family I would definitely recommend him . For me the best and honest professional electrician out truly a great persons ShawnPosted on Google![]()

I can’t recommend Schumann Electric highly enough. After moving into our new home, Tom and Steve helped us update and improve some outdated electrical work, making sure everything was safe, reliable, and up to modern standards. They were professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything along the way. Not to mention the communication with them on scheduling is so much better than any other company I have worked with. No back and forth between multiple parties. They get you scheduled and get the job done right. They also did an outdoor lighting project for us, and the results have been absolutely incredible. The lighting has completely transformed the look of our home — it truly makes our house stand out as one of the most beautiful on the street. Their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and design sense exceeded our expectations. Schumann is the type of electrician you hope to find: trustworthy, skilled, responsive, and genuinely proud of their work. We are extremely happy with everything they have done for us and will definitely be calling them for any future electrical needs.+1
Where Extra Outlets Save a Room the Most
Kitchens, home offices, bedside walls, garages, and anywhere a cord runs over a floor.
When a Buzzing Dimmer Means the Load Is Off
A dimmer humming under LED bulbs is overloaded or mismatched. New bulbs rarely help. It is the dimmer that must change.
Who Calls Us About Dimmers- Owners Tired of Flicker, Buzz and Cords
Renovators changing every switch plate at once. Parents adding outlets to a nursery wall. Owners who finally want one dimmer that holds a low setting without buzzing.
What Changes After One Switch and Outlet Visit
- Every dimmer set to its low end
- An outlet on the wall you use
- No hum, no flicker, and no hot plate
Lights Buzzing at Night?
One visit sorts every switch in the room.

About Schumann Electric
Perfectionists at Every Connection
We wire each outlet like our own family will plug into it tomorrow.
Schumann Electric has spent over 25 years proving that careful device wiring is the foundation of home electrical safety. Every outlet we install gets screw-terminal connections instead of quick backstabs, verified grounding, and a polarity test before the cover goes on. Chester County homeowners get owner-level attention, one written price for the whole project, and full Pennsylvania licensing behind connections built to outlast the walls around them.
Switch Basics
Frequently Asked Questions
Why it hums, why it dims, and what a new one costs.
Should dimmers be changed when LED bulbs go in?
Usually, yes. A dimmer built for filament bulbs sees an LED load it cannot read, so the light flickers at the low end or refuses to start. An LED-rated dimmer costs little and cures the flicker in a swap that takes ten minutes.
Are smart switches worth it in an older home?
They work well, with one catch. Most smart switches need a neutral wire in the box, and this can be an issue in homes built before about 2011. We check the box first, then either pull a neutral or fit a no-neutral model that suits it.
Does adding an outlet mean opening up the wall?
Seldom more than one small cut. We fish cable through the stud bay from an existing box nearby, and the new opening is only the size of the device itself. Anything larger gets discussed with you before a knife ever touches the plaster.
My wall outlets feel loose. Is that a problem?
It is. A loose outlet usually means the device was backstabbed, where the wire pushes into a spring clip rather than wrapping a screw. Those clips relax with heat and arcing. We move every conductor onto the screw terminal and torque it down.
Can you add outlets without a whole new circuit?
Often, if the existing circuit has room. We measure the load already on that run before extending it, because a hidden overload is how a convenience becomes a hazard. Heavy appliances always get a dedicated circuit of their own, never a shared one.
How long does a switch and outlet visit take?
Most switch and outlet lists clear in a single visit. Six dimmers and four new outlets is a comfortable morning. Pulling cable into finished walls adds time, so we quote by the list rather than by the hour, and we say so upfront.
