I had a great experience with Tom and his partner. They were professional, timely, responsive, and helped quickly switch out some circuit breakers that continued to trip. They also added in surge protection to mitigate power glitches that are common to my area.

We had an excellent experience with Tom’s technician who installed 2 brand new ceiling fans in our house as well as a new lighting fixture in our kitchen. He was fast yet thorough and made sure we were completely satisfied with the work before leaving, offering to handle anything else we needed.

Very Good Electrician – I had Schumann Electric out now I think for the 4th time in the past couple years. I will not use anyone else. This time it was to wire up our new hot tub. They are always on time and the job was completed as agreed.

Schumann Electric is by far the best electrician I ever had. He comes when he says & updates when in route. Tom can handle any situation. He has moved switches anywhere i asked. Many outlets been updated. Added ceiling light where I had none. Fixed outside boxes & figured out why one didn't work. Noticed my whole house surge protector wasn't working. Put one in. He has everything that he needs with him always. Steve, his worker works just as hard as Tom does. He knows exactly what he is doing. They even clean up!Posted on Google![]()

First off I wanna start off by saying this is my first Google review. But this electrician deserves a five star Google review for how professional quality work and being on time.He installed a hot tub for me it was a lot work it was about a 100 foot run from the breaker to Hot tub. He explained everything that had to be done and when he started he showed me the work he’s done during the steps Of insulation to me that shows he was not hiding any mistakes or coverups. Very professional in my opinion I would use this electrician for anything else and for any of my friends or family I would definitely recommend him . For me the best and honest professional electrician out truly a great persons ShawnPosted on Google![]()

I can’t recommend Schumann Electric highly enough. After moving into our new home, Tom and Steve helped us update and improve some outdated electrical work, making sure everything was safe, reliable, and up to modern standards. They were professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything along the way. Not to mention the communication with them on scheduling is so much better than any other company I have worked with. No back and forth between multiple parties. They get you scheduled and get the job done right. They also did an outdoor lighting project for us, and the results have been absolutely incredible. The lighting has completely transformed the look of our home — it truly makes our house stand out as one of the most beautiful on the street. Their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and design sense exceeded our expectations. Schumann is the type of electrician you hope to find: trustworthy, skilled, responsive, and genuinely proud of their work. We are extremely happy with everything they have done for us and will definitely be calling them for any future electrical needs.+1

Frequently Asked Questions
Sizing, fuel, running costs, and the weekly test explained here.
How big a generator does a house need?
It comes off a load calculation, never off floor area. We list what has to keep running, which is usually the well pump, the furnace, the fridge, and a few circuits, then add the starting draw of the biggest motor. Most houses here land between twelve and twenty-two kilowatts on that method.
Will a standby generator run on natural gas?
Yes, and it is the easier fuel where the street already has a gas main, because there is no tank to fill and nothing to run dry. Propane is the answer everywhere else, on a buried tank sized for days. Diesel we leave alone on houses, since it needs more looking after.
Does a generator start itself during an outage?
That is the whole point of the transfer switch. It watches the incoming supply, and when the supply drops away, it signals the generator, waits for it to come up to speed, then throws the house across. Ten to thirty seconds from dark back to lit, with nobody stepping outside the door.
Is a portable generator enough for a house?
For a fridge and a single lamp, yes. For a well pump, a furnace, and a whole house, no, and the extension cords under a door are how carbon monoxide gets indoors. A portable also needs someone home to start it, which is the one arrangement an outage rarely makes for you.
Do standby generators need a service each year?
Every year without fail, the same as a car. Oil, filters, plugs, battery, and a full load test under real conditions. The weekly exercise run only tells you that the engine turns over, and it tells you nothing at all about whether the generator can carry the house for three straight days.
Can a generator go on an older panel?
Usually, because the transfer switch sits ahead of the panel rather than inside it. What matters is whether the panel is sound and the grounding is right, so we open the cover and look first before promising anything. Where the panel is failing, we say so, and that is a separate job.
