Before Install

Capacity Before Installation

New fixtures and appliances add load to a panel that was sized decades ago. We check available capacity before quoting the work, so a lighting plan does not become an emergency panel upgrade three months later.

Schumann Electric is by far the best electrician I ever had. He comes when he says & updates when in route. Tom can handle any situation. He has moved switches anywhere i asked. Many outlets been updated. Added ceiling light where I had none. Fixed outside boxes & figured out why one didn't work. Noticed my whole house surge protector wasn't working. Put one in. He has everything that he needs with him always. Steve, his worker works just as hard as Tom does. He knows exactly what he is doing. They even clean up!

First off I wanna start off by saying this is my first Google review. But this electrician deserves a five star Google review for how professional quality work and being on time.He installed a hot tub for me it was a lot work it was about a 100 foot run from the breaker to Hot tub. He explained everything that had to be done and when he started he showed me the work he’s done during the steps Of insulation to me that shows he was not hiding any mistakes or coverups. Very professional in my opinion I would use this electrician for anything else and for any of my friends or family I would definitely recommend him . For me the best and honest professional electrician out truly a great persons Shawn

+1
I can’t recommend Schumann Electric highly enough. After moving into our new home, Tom and Steve helped us update and improve some outdated electrical work, making sure everything was safe, reliable, and up to modern standards. They were professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything along the way. Not to mention the communication with them on scheduling is so much better than any other company I have worked with. No back and forth between multiple parties. They get you scheduled and get the job done right. They also did an outdoor lighting project for us, and the results have been absolutely incredible. The lighting has completely transformed the look of our home — it truly makes our house stand out as one of the most beautiful on the street. Their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and design sense exceeded our expectations. Schumann is the type of electrician you hope to find: trustworthy, skilled, responsive, and genuinely proud of their work. We are extremely happy with everything they have done for us and will definitely be calling them for any future electrical needs.

Installation Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What homeowners ask before adding anything to an existing house.
Do I need a permit for electrical installation?
Swapping a fixture for another in the same spot does not require one. Adding circuits, moving a fixture to new wiring, or altering the panel does, under the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code. We file the paperwork and meet the township inspector so you never have to handle it.
Yes. Fishing cable into finished rooms is routine work for us, whether the route runs through a joist bay, an attic, or a basement ceiling. We tell you before starting where access will be needed and how the opening will be closed.
Rarely more than one small opening, and often none at all. Recessed housings and fan boxes are cut to size, and we plan the cable route to avoid extra holes. Anything we do open is discussed with you first and left ready for paint.
Please do. Many clients choose their own fittings, and we install them to manufacturer specification. We will tell you honestly if a fixture is too heavy for its intended mount or if the driver will fight your existing dimmer, before you commit to buying.
Two to three weeks suits most planned installations, and longer if a permit is involved. Small additions often fit sooner. If you are working to a renovation schedule, call early,y and we will slot the rough-in against your builder’s dates.
Regularly. We coordinate rough-in before drywall and return for trim-out once painting is done, which is the sequence that keeps costs down. Give us your project timeline, and the electrical phase will not be the one holding everyone else up.
