Yard Lights

Landscape Lighting Design

Twelve volts, buried right, lit for years.
Buried Cable

Buried Cable and Sealed Joints

Landscape lighting rarely fails at the fixture. It fails at a wire nut buried in wet soil, quietly rotting through one winter. We use direct burial connectors and lay the cable in at a proper depth below.

Schumann Electric is by far the best electrician I ever had. He comes when he says & updates when in route. Tom can handle any situation. He has moved switches anywhere i asked. Many outlets been updated. Added ceiling light where I had none. Fixed outside boxes & figured out why one didn't work. Noticed my whole house surge protector wasn't working. Put one in. He has everything that he needs with him always. Steve, his worker works just as hard as Tom does. He knows exactly what he is doing. They even clean up!

First off I wanna start off by saying this is my first Google review. But this electrician deserves a five star Google review for how professional quality work and being on time.He installed a hot tub for me it was a lot work it was about a 100 foot run from the breaker to Hot tub. He explained everything that had to be done and when he started he showed me the work he’s done during the steps Of insulation to me that shows he was not hiding any mistakes or coverups. Very professional in my opinion I would use this electrician for anything else and for any of my friends or family I would definitely recommend him . For me the best and honest professional electrician out truly a great persons Shawn

+1
I can’t recommend Schumann Electric highly enough. After moving into our new home, Tom and Steve helped us update and improve some outdated electrical work, making sure everything was safe, reliable, and up to modern standards. They were professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything along the way. Not to mention the communication with them on scheduling is so much better than any other company I have worked with. No back and forth between multiple parties. They get you scheduled and get the job done right. They also did an outdoor lighting project for us, and the results have been absolutely incredible. The lighting has completely transformed the look of our home — it truly makes our house stand out as one of the most beautiful on the street. Their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and design sense exceeded our expectations. Schumann is the type of electrician you hope to find: trustworthy, skilled, responsive, and genuinely proud of their work. We are extremely happy with everything they have done for us and will definitely be calling them for any future electrical needs.

About Schumann Electric

Sculptors of Light and Shadow

Great exterior lighting is restraint: knowing what to light and what to leave dark.
Schumann Electric has designed and installed landscape lighting across Chester County for more than 25 years, learning that the best systems whisper rather than shout. We bury wiring properly below frost concerns, choose fixtures that survive our winters, and aim every light after dark until the effect looks effortless. Owner-led design, written proposals, and full Pennsylvania licensing accompany every nightscape we create.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much it costs, how deep it goes, how long it lasts.
Is low voltage lighting cheap to run each night?
Pennies. A full front garden on LED draws less than a single old porch bulb, and the transformer only works while the timer says so. Running cost is the last worry anyone has after the first year. Nobody mentions it again after that.
Six inches clears a spade and a mower, and that is where ours sit. Under a planting bed we go deeper still, because that soil gets turned. Cable left lying under mulch is the reason so many systems die young in this county.
That is why we size the transformer with spare capacity and wire in hubs rather than one long chain. Adding a pair of uplights next spring means a short cable run and an hour of work, not a rebuild of the whole run.
Brass and copper do, and they look better as they age. Plastic goes brittle after three or four hard freezes and the lens clouds over. We fit metal because replacing cheap fittings twice costs more than buying solid ones once at the outset.
Fewer than most people expect. Six to ten across a typical front does all the work, because low voltage lighting reads best when it picks out a few features rather than flooding the whole plot evenly. Restraint is what reads as real taste.
They are honest about what they are, which is temporary. Output fades away by midwinter, the batteries last two seasons at best, and the heads tilt as the ground moves. A wired system costs more once and then stops asking anything of you.
