I had a great experience with Tom and his partner. They were professional, timely, responsive, and helped quickly switch out some circuit breakers that continued to trip. They also added in surge protection to mitigate power glitches that are common to my area.

We had an excellent experience with Tom’s technician who installed 2 brand new ceiling fans in our house as well as a new lighting fixture in our kitchen. He was fast yet thorough and made sure we were completely satisfied with the work before leaving, offering to handle anything else we needed.

Very Good Electrician – I had Schumann Electric out now I think for the 4th time in the past couple years. I will not use anyone else. This time it was to wire up our new hot tub. They are always on time and the job was completed as agreed.

Schumann Electric is by far the best electrician I ever had. He comes when he says & updates when in route. Tom can handle any situation. He has moved switches anywhere i asked. Many outlets been updated. Added ceiling light where I had none. Fixed outside boxes & figured out why one didn't work. Noticed my whole house surge protector wasn't working. Put one in. He has everything that he needs with him always. Steve, his worker works just as hard as Tom does. He knows exactly what he is doing. They even clean up!Posted on Google![]()

First off I wanna start off by saying this is my first Google review. But this electrician deserves a five star Google review for how professional quality work and being on time.He installed a hot tub for me it was a lot work it was about a 100 foot run from the breaker to Hot tub. He explained everything that had to be done and when he started he showed me the work he’s done during the steps Of insulation to me that shows he was not hiding any mistakes or coverups. Very professional in my opinion I would use this electrician for anything else and for any of my friends or family I would definitely recommend him . For me the best and honest professional electrician out truly a great persons ShawnPosted on Google![]()

I can’t recommend Schumann Electric highly enough. After moving into our new home, Tom and Steve helped us update and improve some outdated electrical work, making sure everything was safe, reliable, and up to modern standards. They were professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything along the way. Not to mention the communication with them on scheduling is so much better than any other company I have worked with. No back and forth between multiple parties. They get you scheduled and get the job done right. They also did an outdoor lighting project for us, and the results have been absolutely incredible. The lighting has completely transformed the look of our home — it truly makes our house stand out as one of the most beautiful on the street. Their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and design sense exceeded our expectations. Schumann is the type of electrician you hope to find: trustworthy, skilled, responsive, and genuinely proud of their work. We are extremely happy with everything they have done for us and will definitely be calling them for any future electrical needs.+1
Where Surge Protection Stands Between The Grid And You
The surge device goes at the panel first, then at the key outlets.
When A Surge Reaches The House Without Warning
Lightning a mile away is enough. So is the utility switching a line, or the well pump kicking back on.
Who Fits Surge Protection Before A Storm Hits
Owners who lost a television to a storm. Houses on overhead lines. Anyone running a heat pump and charger.
What A Surge Device Stops Cold
- One device across every circuit
- Kit that survives the storm
- Ground and bonding put right
Get Ahead Of The Next Big Storm
One device now, or a new television and oven later on.

Surge Asks
Frequently Asked Questions
The questions owners ask before surge and lightning protection.
Do power strips count as real surge protection?
They are the last line, not the only one. A strip clamps what reaches that one outlet and does nothing for the oven, the heat pump, or the furnace board. The panel surge device takes the hit first, and the strip mops up what gets past it. Both together is the answer.
Is whole house surge protection worth the cost?
Set it against one control board. A heat pump board runs into four figures, an induction range not far behind, and a modern furnace the same again. The panel device costs less than any one of them and covers every circuit in the house at once. The arithmetic here is not close.
Can a surge protector stop a direct strike?
Nothing stops a direct hit on the roof, and anyone who claims otherwise is selling. What a surge device handles is the rest, which is nearly every single event. A strike two streets away, a utility line switching, a big motor cycling. Those come in on the wiring, and we stop those.
How long does a surge protection device last?
It wears out by design, because each surge event burns a little of the internal capacity away. Ten years is typical in this county, less on an overhead service that takes regular hits. The status light on the front tells you when it has given all it has and needs a swap.
Will home insurance cover a lightning surge claim?
Often, and the deductible is where it stings. A surge claim also sits on your record and lifts the premium at renewal, so the cheaper route is not needing one. Some carriers in Pennsylvania will trim the premium where a whole house device is fitted, so it is always worth an ask.
Should surge protection go in before a storm?
Before, always, because a surge device fitted the morning after protects nothing that already failed. The one other sensible moment is while the panel cover is off for other work, since the labor on it is already paid for and the device lands on a spare slot in a matter of minutes.
